Curl Troy

Curl Troy Spring League at NTPRD Chiller starts March 1, 2023

Have you ever wanted to learn how to play that most unique of winter sports? That one you might have seen on the TV with the brooms, and the rocks, and all the yelling?

Curl Troy is hosting two 5-week introduction to curling leagues this spring at NTPRD Chiller in Springfield starting Wednesday March 1st.

All levels of competitiveness are welcome; however, no experience is necessary to sign up. We will have qualified instructors on site to help walk you through how to sweep, slide, throw a rock, and compete.

Session 1 will start on March 1st, and Session 2 will start on April 5th. You are welcome to sign up for both.

If you have never curled before, here are some tips before you come onto the ice:

Dress Comfortably
Even though it may be cold in the ice rink, you should dress for comfort. You will be crouching down and moving around a lot. Comfortable clothes are a must. You may start the evening quite cold and then get warm as you play. Layers are helpful.

Shoes
Wear comfortable athletic shoes with soft rubber soles (sneakers work great!) The harder the sole of the shoe, the slicker they will feel on the ice. We have proper shoe covers called Grippers that will be available for you as well in order to help walk on the ice more safely.

Minimum Age
There is no minimum age, but we ask parents to consider that the stones do weigh 42 pounds and will be difficult for younger children to work with. We suggest a minimum age of 12.
